FUTURE NEENAH RECOGNIZES PARTNERSHIPS OF THE YEAR
Future Neenah celebrates the outstanding partnerships that helped us achieve community success in 2020.
January 22, 2021— Future Neenah recognized the following individuals and businesses that, through partnerships, made serving as Neenah’s quality of life organization a success in 2020. These honorees have hearts for community service and a love of Neenah Area.
Civic Partner of the Year Award: City of Neenah Department of Community Development
The City of Neenah Department of Community Development was recognized for being our partner in the Business Improvement district (BID) and for our ongoing economic and community development partnerships with them.
“As Future Neenah embarks on the 20th year as the operating arm of the BID, we are grateful for such a truly collaborative partnership with community development. We look forward to the progress ahead!” said Nikki Hessel, Future Neenah Executive Director.
Neenah With Pride Award: ThedaCare
ThedaCare is being recognized for remaining an integral part of the community and demonstrating their Neenah pride for over a century. They have been on the front lines of the pandemic, recently moved their headquarters to Downtown Neenah, and have been an ongoing sponsor of Log Your Loops, an initiative to keep the community healthy and moving on the trestle trail loop.
Hessel said, “ThedaCare has demonstrated their Neenah pride as an irreplaceable anchor in the community for so many years. We’re grateful for their engagement in the Neenah area and their ongoing commitment to community health.”
2020 Visionary Award: Becky St. Mary
Becky St. Mary is being recognized for her commitment to the Neenah area by jumping into action to help promote the small business community during this unexpectedly challenging year. In March of 2020, Becky created the Eat. Drink. Shop. Neenah Facebook page to provide a platform for local businesses to share updates and keep their customers informed about how they could serve them during the shutdowns and beyond. Becky is currently celebrating 15 year of serving the Neenah community as a small business owner herself at Salon di Amici.
“Becky saw a need for small, local businesses to share their messages quickly, and did not hesitate to act. She is a dedicated business owner with a heart for the community she calls home.” said Nikki Hessel, Future Neenah Executive Director.
Downtown Business of the Year Award: The Natural Boutique
The Natural Boutique is being recognized for going above and beyond to embrace the ideas of “Downtown Neenah Unequaled” brand. The Natural Boutique is a Downtown destination and an active participant in every activity. The owner, Sandy White, also just completed a term on the Business Improvement District board.
Hessel praised The Natural Boutique, “They happily participate in all of our Downtown Neenah happenings and are always one of the first in line with their hand raised ‘yes’ to Ultimate Ladies Day, Warm Your Heart, the Summer Sale and so much more. Downtown Neenah wouldn’t be the same without Sandy (and her four-legged friends)!”
Future Neenah Champion Award: Ellen Skerke
Ellen Skerke is being recognized for serving as the Future Neenah staff accountant for 19 years. She has been a true champion of the community and a valuable member of the Future Neenah team; meeting every challenge that came her way. Her knowledge and experience have been an essential part of the successes of our organization over the years.
“We are so grateful to Ellen for her time as a member of the Future Neenah team. She will be missed but know she won’t be far!” Hessel said.
Presidents Award: Lori Borchardt and Meghan Healy
Future Neenah recognized both Lori Borchardt and Meghan Healy with the Presidents Award. Lori and Meghan both served terms as Future Neenah Board Presidents and gave 110% during their terms. Both Meghan and Lori are outgoing board members who helped advance the organization’s mission through their efforts with volunteer management, our endowment, marketing, and legal guidance and with their affiliated business support.
Hessel praised Healy and Borchardt, “From making high level decisions that impacted the organization to serving onsite at a community event – I really can’t say enough about both of these ladies.”
