This talk will examine several of the most famous films set in ancient Rome, including Ben-Hur (1959) and Gladiator (2000), and reveal the historical accuracy of their plot, sets, costumes, and characters. In addition, you’ll hear interesting stories about the challenges that the filmmakers faced in bringing ancient Rome to vivid cinematic life.
